Electrophysiology Visual Guides

Role: Researcher and Designer

Wide Image

This self-directed project stemmed from my passion for simplifying complex scientific concepts in electrophysiology. I researched and designed visual guides to explain the fundamentals of Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electrooculography (EOG) for educational purposes, making these topics more accessible to a broader audience.

Key Contributions:

  • Simplified the intersection of EEG, EOG, and AR through visually engaging and intuitive diagrams.

  • Translated intricate technical details into clear, user-friendly visuals for both educational and professional audiences.

  • Emphasized accessibility with clean layouts and logical organization to ensure clarity and usability.

  • Independently conducted all research and design work, bridging scientific knowledge with innovative communication techniques.

Cleu Diagnostics - Quick Start Guide Design

Role: UX/UI and Graphic Designer

I designed a comprehensive Quick Start Guide for CLEU Diagnostics to assist healthcare professionals in understanding and operating the CLEU Synovial LE Test device effectively. The goal was to minimize human error and ensure seamless integration into clinical workflows.

Key Contributions:

  • Developed a user-centered, visually engaging trifold design for the guide, balancing clarity and aesthetics.

  • Included step-by-step instructions paired with intuitive visuals for easy navigation and understanding.

  • Integrated clear indicators for key steps, such as device pairing, running quality control, and conducting patient tests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

  • Prioritized accessibility and usability by incorporating clean layouts and strategic use of space to enhance comprehension.

This design fosters confidence among users, promoting error-free operation and improving patient care outcomes.

Community Garden Art Collective (CGAC) - Newsletter Design

Role: Graphic Designer & Illustrator

I conceptualized and designed the Sunflower Newsletter, a creative publication for the Community Garden Art Collective (CGAC). This first edition served as a comprehensive resource, highlighting current art exhibitions, artist opportunities, and CGAC initiatives.

Key Contributions:

  • Developed a cohesive and visually striking layout to balance modern aesthetics with ease of navigation.

  • Designed custom illustrations and graphics to enhance storytelling and complement the newsletter's theme.

  • Organized content into clear sections, including exhibition highlights, artist opportunities, and community updates, ensuring seamless flow and reader engagement.

  • Maintained alignment with CGAC’s branding and mission by emphasizing accessibility, inclusivity, and creativity.

This project exemplifies my ability to integrate design and illustration to create effective communication materials that resonate with diverse audiences.

LabSimple Logo Redesign

Role: Brand Identity Designer

I developed a comprehensive logo redesign and brand identity for LabSimple, aligning the visual language with their values of precision, innovation, and efficiency. The updated logo reflects the integration of advanced technology and meticulous engineering within LabSimple’s diagnostic solutions.

Key Contributions:

  • Analyzed the company’s core technologies, such as heating coils, PCBs, and microfluidic channels, to inform the clean lines, geometric shapes, and symmetry of the design.

  • Designed a custom typeface that combines modern aesthetics with geometric principles, ensuring a consistent and harmonious brand identity.

  • Incorporated the golden ratio into logo proportions and typography to achieve natural balance and visual appeal.

  • Explored curve variations and proportions to balance confidence and reliability with the approachable nature of medical technology.

  • Delivered a refined visual identity that emphasizes simplicity, efficiency, and innovation while ensuring scalability and adaptability across media.

This project highlights my ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling and meaningful design elements for impactful branding.

Masterclass on Design Principles for Web Developers

Role: Educator & Presentation Designer

I created and delivered a masterclass on design principles tailored for web developers with no prior design background. This session was taught at a community college in Nova Scotia, equipping attendees with foundational design knowledge to enhance their web development projects.

Key Contributions:

  • Designed a comprehensive and visually engaging slideshow to introduce core design principles, such as typography, colour theory, layout balance, and user-centred design.

  • Simplified complex design concepts into actionable insights, ensuring accessibility for participants without a design background.

  • Integrated practical examples and interactive exercises to foster hands-on learning and real-world application.

  • Delivered the session with a focus on collaboration, encouraging participants to think critically about integrating design into development workflows.

  • Provided additional resources and templates to help students continue their design journey independently.

This masterclass highlights my ability to demystify design principles, create impactful learning materials, and inspire non-designers to enhance their professional skillsets.

Community Garden Art Collective (CGAC) - UX/UI Designer

Role: UX/UI Designer & Brand Strategist

As CGAC’s UX/UI designer, I developed layouts and digital interfaces to reflect the collective’s mission and brand identity. My designs supported CGAC’s goal of creating accessible, visually engaging, and user-friendly digital experiences for the art community.
